Tanya Kelen launched production and distribution company, Kelencontent in 2008 and produces high impact productions and XR edu-tainment. In 2021, Kelen teamed up with Conestoga College and the award-winning VR studio Liquid Cinema Inc. producers of The Magic of Flight for Meta to develop and launch an omniverse XR edutainment platform now in stealth mode that will be showcased at VRTO 2023.
Tanya Kelen, Founder and CEO of Kelencontent has over 25+ years of experience in the production and distribution of content and educational instruction/ media content product design. She has designed and delivered undergraduate and graduate courses to leading academic institutions and now coaches people worldwide on how to launch their media production companies globally. Before starting Kelencontent in 2008, Kelen worked for leading media companies managing global sales, acquisitions, pre-sales, and co-productions. She launched a VR studio to offer marketing and business development services to start-ups in 2017 after winning an IRAP-NRC grant with Sheridan College. She is also the recipient of a TIFF studio fellowship and Banff Spark recipient as one of Canada’s top 100 female-owned companies as of 2022.
From 2017-2019, Kelencontent was also accepted into the Ideaboost’s network connect program. She has been part of the VR community since 1993 when her mentor, Professor Greg Davies introduced her to the International Symposium of Electronic Arts that was being held in Montreal. She cold-called Wired Magazine’s Bruce Sterling who agreed to do an interview for her pilot TV series about cutting-edge electronic artists and the future of cyborgs. She raised $500 K for the development of the series from a Montreal distribution company (Malofilm) and this launched her media career during her 2nd year attending Concordia University’s first-ever Fine Arts Interdisciplinary Studies Program. Kelen was born in Montreal, and in 1994 as part of her research for her first TV series she heard about Char Davies who developed the first meditation VR experience in Montreal (Osmose).
Kelen is a thought leader, futurist and serial entrepreneur. Her team offers content funding and sales support to commercialize new content including spatial media across production and/ or acquisitions for TV Series, Feature Films and Digital /XR with leading organizations, academia such as Conestoga College, and leading media studios and networks. Media clients include WarnerBros Discovery, CBC, TVO, TFO, Telus, BellMedia, BBC, Nickelodeon, Disney+, Paramount+ Cartoon Network, Apple, Netflix, Meta, Amazon, Google and many others.
