Pratik Pradhan is a researcher at the Mixed Reality Immersive Motion Simulation (MIMS) Laboratory, a recurring academic assistant for the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University, and an Engineering Consultant for various startup companies, including Veyond Metaverse and HARN-S.
His research interests mainly include the applicability of visual technologies such as Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR & VR) in various aviation-based applications, particularly to assist aircraft pilots with next-generation airspace technologies. That includes designing and developing symbologies and contents for Head-Down Display (HDD) and Head-Up Display (HUD) for the Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) on existing and concept vehicles in a flight simulation environment for research purposes.
Besides HUD/HDD symbologies, he has worked with computer vision for 3D reconstruction, geospatial data visualization, scenario development for simulation purposes, and haptic gloves technology for aerospace test scenarios. He is also interested in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), 3D modelling and printing.
