Pratik Pradhan is a graduate researcher and XR developer at the Mixed Reality Immersive Motion Simulation (MIMS) Laboratory and a Ph.D. student at the Department of Aerospace Engineering of Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), formerly Ryerson University. He is also a recurring graduate/teaching assistant in various engineering design courses, especially Engineering Design and Graphical Communication, Introduction to Aerospace Engineering Design, and Engineering Dynamics.
His research interests mainly include the applicability of visual technologies such as Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR & VR) in various aviation-based applications, particularly to assist aircraft pilots with next-generation airspace technologies. That includes designing and developing symbologies and contents for Head-Down Display (HDD) and Head-Up Display (HUD) for the Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) on existing and concept vehicles in a flight simulation environment for research purposes.
Besides HUD/HDD symbologies, he has worked with computer vision for 3D reconstruction, geospatial data visualization, and scenario development for simulation purposes, and haptic gloves technology for aerospace test scenarios. He is also interested in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), 3D modeling and printing.
