Justin Baillargeon holds a Ph.D in Cinema and Media Studies from York University. His research, which is published and presented in both English and French, focuses primarily on virtual reality, visual effects, and motion and performance capture in film. His doctoral dissertation examined virtual reality and its various challenges related to spectatorship and embodiment in artistic, educational, and entertainment contexts.
He currently is a Professor in Film Studies at Sheridan College and an Adjunct Professor at the Université de l’Ontario français in Toronto. He is also the host of the podcast “Dr. VR,” where he conducts interviews with virtual reality developers from around the world.
