In immersive virtual environments, learning doesn’t happen in a vacuum; it occurs through the mediated bodies, faces, and voices we bring with us. This talk examines how avatars in XR learning spaces act as emotional and cognitive extensions of the learner, influencing identity, presence, and connection. Through real-world examples and reflective design strategies, this session invites participants to consider: who do we become when we learn virtually, and what are the emotional stakes of that transformation?
