Using my room scale 6DoF experience BELONGINGS as a case study, I will discuss the use of objects such as personal artifacts, mementos, photographs, and documents to create a narrative. I will cover how interactivity, user presence, and user agency can be deployed to create a story that can only be told in VR. I’ll talk about how real time can be used to explore subjective memories in the context of non-linear narrative structure. What is speculative memoir? How can an artist best take advantage of the affordances in a three dimensional space to tell their story? These are my themes.
