VR storytelling has been evolving rapidly over the last few years, from 360 videos to full blown interactive games. Narrative might not be so much a traditional story and characters anymore, but how it is built from a user experience and interaction in a virtual space. This talk proposes a framework to understand immersion versus interaction, and the possibilities offered by techniques like interactive video, photogrammetry, volumetric video, and machine learning with the presentation of some concrete examples. Finally we discuss the need for evaluating the immersive stories we are creating, and how to measure emotional engagement, presence, fun, learning, or social impact.
